Elizabeth Colland (b. 1990 Pittsburgh, Pennyslvania USA) is a multimedia visual artist living and working in Santa Fe, NM. She received her BFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2013.

Colland grew up in western Pennsylvania where she found a playful mysticism in the woods of the Appalachian foothills. Taking elements from her Catholic upbringing, she sought to become a modern illuminator for the gods and spirits of a natural realm. Her focus is on creating monuments to what was neglected. She believes her work is a devotion to healing and belonging.

Elizabeth Colland has shown her work in Ligonier, PA, and Pittsburgh, PA, Lacoste, France, Manchester, TN, Carmel, CA and Savannah, GA. She worked in the bronze sculpture studio of Richard MacDonald in Carmel, CA as a detailer utilizing the lost wax method of casting bronze. She served two terms in the Americorps and the Student Conservation Association from which she enhanced her dedication to stewardship.

Her recent collection is a combination of abstract paintings and what she calls ‘Feminine Lore’. Primarily using oil paint and watercolor, she surrounds portals with pretty and soft symbols while crafting a curious narrative. It addresses bonds and attention to the mood of a space. While ‘Feminine Lore’ is folkloric, Colland paints her abstracts from the perspective of a creature. She often buries guardians inside the abstracted strokes for the blessing of the viewer.
